House of Ink Copywriting Works was founded by Johan Emerson Grobler, a freelance copywriter and brand practitioner based in Cape Town, South Africa. In short, we practise the delicious art and craft of creation and writing.
We create impactful, individually written and results-orientated ideas and documents.
We have worked as a freelance and full-time writers, for agencies, consultancies and directly for clients, and have experience in a variety of products and markets.
We have developed strong relationships with brand professionals across the primary brand practitioner categories: research, advertising, strategy, PR and digital.
We offer a selective copywriting service, depending on client maturity and client budgets. Our offering and experience makes it unnecessary for clients to waste time rewriting uncreative, off-strategy or badly written documents. Client confidentiality is assured.
We make our clients and their clients’ lives easier by making magic on the page and magic on screen. We seek to create strong demand-end value by enriching the lives of our clients and their clients.
We help clients create vibrant brands that live up to their full brand potential by writing the ideas and words for communication and adverts in traditional and digital media. This involves combining words, ideas, still images, moving pictures, dialogue, actions, and/or music.

Chronologically, he first came to proofreading, followed by editing, technical writing, copywriting, media liaison/PR, translation (English to Afrikaans and vice versa), features writing and screenwriting.
He excels at creative work and delivers to deadlines. He has named several businesses and friends’ cars.
He holds a BA and an Honours in Philosophy (Stellenbosch University).
He has edited a paper by the micro-credit pioneer and Nobel Peace Prize winner Prof. Muhammad Yunus.
